Innovation:
Multi-ply rectangular bellows
kompaflex is the inventor of multi-ply expansion joints in all shapes such as rectangular and oval with only one welding seam in the non-critical longitudinal area. This unique manufacturing process features the following advantages:
- No welding seams in the critical corner area
- Lower spring rates of bellows
- Higher movement of bellows
- Easier welding inspection
- Longer life of expansion joints

High temperature
In high-temperature applications such as gas turbines, exhaust systems or generators, the reliability, performance and longevity of expansion joints are crucial criteria. Extreme temperatures are generated, and the materials are subjected to significant stress. To withstand these conditions, kompaflex has an extensive stock of materials with special alloys and different qualities for the bellows.
High vacuum &
nuclear
kompaflex is highly experienced in the production of expansion joints and bellows for ultra-high vacuum applications, fusion reactors and cryogenics. Our expansion joints are widely used in renowned research institutes and facilities.
Corrosive
media
Corrosive or abrasive media limit the selection of suitable stainless steels, particulary the expansion joint bellows. kompaflex offers multi-ply expansion joints featuring an inner layer made of corrosive-resistant high-nickel alloys such as Inconel or Alloy/Hastelloy®. The remaining outer layers of the bellows without medium contact can be built with regular stainless steel. This design do not only creates an effective and cost-efficient corrosion barrier but also minimize excessive use of expensive materials. kompaflex maintains an extensive inventory of materials, including special alloys and various qualities for the bellows.
High pressure
We have developed high pressure expansion joints and successfully tested them up to 720 bar g pressure. Thanks to the unique combination of multi-ply bellows and reinforcement rings, very high stability under pressure can be achieved. It is possible to constantly monitor the multi-layer bellows during operation via a sniffer nozzle.
Large
diameter
kompaflex offers a wide range of diameters, including multi-ply bellows up to DN 12’000. Expansion joints with a diameter larger than 6’000 mm can be completely manufactured on site.
Standard
expansion joints
kompaflex offers an extensive variety of standard expansion joints. Expansion joints ranging from a diameter of 15 millimetres up to 12‘000 millimetres according to common standards. Different connection types can be combined to meet specific requirements. Our standard expansion joints are fully integrated in the pipe stress analysis software ROHR2. Therefore, suitable kompaflex standard expansion joints can be selected directly during the piping design process.
